With her distinctive mezzo-soprano sound, she was a popular singer of blue-eyed soul, pop and dramatic ballads, with French chanson, country, and jazz in her repertoire.

It’s a superb, forwardthinking album, that explores the nascent Philly soul sound with songwriter-producers Gamble and Huff. Beautifully orchestrated, with a gospel undertow, closer Let’s Talk It Over is magnificent.
