Alan C. Kay, né le 17 mai 1940 à Springfield au Massachusetts, est un informaticien américain. Après des études à l'université du Colorado à Boulder, il fait un PhD d'informatique à l'université d'Utah de 1966 à 1969, avec David Evans (son directeur de thèse) et Ivan Sutherland.

Alan Kay (born May 17, 1940, Springfield, Massachusetts, U.S.) is an American computer scientist and winner of the 2003 A.M. Turing Award, the highest honour in computer science, for his contributions to object-oriented programming languages, including Smalltalk, and to personal computing.
Alan Kay is a visionary inventor who conceived of laptops, graphical interfaces and object-oriented programming. He has worked at XeroxPARC, Apple, HP and Disney, and is now focused on creating tools for thinking and learning.
