Kyle Spencer has been absent in two episodes overall throughout the season. The first is "Burn, Witch. Burn!" and the second is "The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks". Kyle is immune to Zoe's black widow power because he already died once, which apparently negates it.
Kyle was neither, Madison killed him, and was remade with witchcraft, using the body parts of his dead friends. He probably also had their souls trapped inside him. Maybe they all split up when he died.
They never explained it. My guess? He's dead or far away from the Coven. He could've been killed by Cordelia after Madison's murder or maybe she put an identity spell on him and send him away.
The Kyle character had so much potential. The monologue in the tattoo parlor when he talks about hurricane Katrina and wanting to make the world better by becoming an engineer was 😭😭🙌🙌 If only every person in real life could turn their tragedies into positive purpose, the world would thrive.
