Sabel Hay Shields (August 15, 1957 – April 18, 2009), better known as Sable Starr, was an American groupie, often described as the "queen of the groupie scene" in Los Angeles during the early 1970s.

1 oct. 2021 · Getting involved in the scene at a very early age, Starr claimed throughout her life that she lost her virginity (in other words, was legally raped) to Spirit guitarist Randy California at the extremely young age of 12, far below the age of consent (via Rocks Off).
Sable Starr and her friends were often referred to as “baby groupies,” as they were quite young. At the age of 16, Starr left home to live with musician Johnny Thunders. He was the leading guitarist of the rock band ‘New York Dolls.’

Sable Starr’s life as rock ‘n’ roll groupie began at the age of 12 when she lost her virginity to the guitarist from the band Spirit. The guitarist was none other than Randy California. The pair met after Randy played a gig in Topanga, California.
