Read School, Drax is a boarding, day, and independent school, based in the rural village of Drax, near Selby, North Yorkshire, England. Formerly a boys' school, it became co-educational in 1991. Read has certainly stood the test of time, and probably stands of one of the oldest schools in the country! 350 years was celebrated in all it's glory at Read with the production of 'The King and I', the CCF march through Drax village to the Church for Remembrance Day and a special 350 commemoration Day celebration.
At Read School, we believe that all pupils should be able to access all areas of the curriculum and we provide a balanced, well-focused and wide-ranging programme of study which both challenges and encourages our pupils to be responsible for their own learning.
The school is pleasantly situated in the rural village of Drax and is very convenient for main rail (Doncaster, York, Leeds) and road access (M62, M18, A1). Manchester is the nearest international airport (1½ hours distant).
