This 1928 Essex Super Six is a four-door Essex sedan mated with the running gear of a 1928 Chevrolet. The Hudson-built Essex was marketed as a small, affordable American car and the company was third in US sales behind Ford and Chevrolet during the late 1920s.
Hudsons became famous for its record-breaking Super Six range and the Essex was renowned for its low-cost closed coachwork; its four-seater sedan was only slightly more expensive than the tourer in 1922 and marginally cheaper by 1925.

Later, when the companion Essex brand dropped its F-head four-cylinder for a flathead-six, the Super Six gained an F-head for itself.
