26 avr. 2024 · Innervates the muscles of the posterior thigh (biceps femoris, semimembranosus and semitendinosus) and the hamstring portion of the adductor magnus (remaining portion of which is supplied by the obturator nerve). Indirectly innervates (via its terminal branches) all the muscles of the leg and foot. Sensory functions: No direct sensory functions.
The sciatic nerve controls muscles in the thigh, leg, and foot. After traveling through the greater sciatic foramen in the pelvis, the sciatic nerve innervates a series of muscles along its course. An undivided, thick nerve extends from the pelvis to the knee.
16 nov. 2023 · The sciatic nerve provides motor innervation to the posterior compartment of the thigh. This includes the biceps femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, and the ischial portion of the adductor magnus, providing knee flexion and hip adduction.
The sciatic nerve is the thickest (approximately 2cm wide) nerve in the body, which travels in the posterior compartment of the thigh and supplies a major part of the lower extremity. At the upper aspect of the popliteal fossa, it branches medially to the Tibial Nerve and laterally to the Common Peroneal Nerve .
4 avr.
