Karen Diane Magnussen, OC (born April 4, 1952) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 1972 Olympic silver medallist and 1973 World champion. She was Canada's Female Athlete of the Year in 1971 and 1972, and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1973.

26 janv. 2014 · Karen Magnussen, a former world champion figure skater and coach, was exposed to ammonia at a rink in 2011 and became permanently disabled. She can no longer work, coach or enjoy the sport she loves, and suffers from side effects of steroids and other conditions.
Junior champion in 1965 and senior national champion five times between 1968 and 1973, Magnussen captured the hearts of the skating world with a brilliant performance at the 1972 Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan where she won a silver medal, Canada’s only medal of the ’72 Games.
