Josef Erich Zawinul [1] dit Joe Zawinul, né à Vienne le 7 juillet 1932 et mort dans la même ville le 11 septembre 2007, est un pianiste et claviériste de jazz de nationalité autrichienne qui possède des origines à la fois hongroises et tchèques et, comme il le précise lui-même, tziganes.

7 juil. 2023 · Joe also participated in the 1969 recording sessions for Miles Davis’ seminal In a Silent Way, the title track being a Zawinul classic. Joe subsequently played on Miles’ Bitches Brew, Big Fun and Live-Evil before forming the jazz supergroup Weather Report at the end of 1970.
However, he is most recognized for his work as a musician and composer on the Miles Davis albums recorded between 1969 and 1972: "In A Silent Way" (1969), "Bitches Brew" (1970), "Live-Evil" (1971), and "Big Fun" (1974).
