An iconic piece of challenging 1960s cinema and a gripping narrative on its own terms, L’avventura concerns the enigmatic disappearance of a young woman during a yachting trip off the coast of Sicily, and the search taken up by her disaffected lover (Gabriele Ferzetti) and best friend (Monica Vitti, in her breakout role).

It was seen as the flip side of Fellini's "La Dolce Vita."Both directors were Italian, both depicted their characters in a fruitless search for sensual pleasure, both films ended at dawn with emptiness and soul-sickness.

26 oct. 2004 · L’Avventura suit des personnages, en plein désert affectif, qui hantent des lieux désaffectés sur lesquels ils n’ont aucune prise. Avec le cinéma moderne, la nature perd de sa superbe. Elle n’est plus la manifestation d’une présence divine, mais l’illustration de la perte de sens du réel.
