Platinum Blonde, known briefly as The Blondes, is a Canadian rock band that formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1979. Vocalist Mark Holmes has been the only consistent member of the band since its inception. They are an image conscious band that took advantage of the advent of the music video.

À lui seul, le nom résume un pan des années 80, des sonorités synthétiques au look excentrique, où cheveux aussi peroxydés que crêpés, vêtements colorés et maquillages appuyés étaient la norme. Après une longue absence, la formation revient à Québec le temps d'un concert forcément nostalgique, mais qui se veut aussi de son temps, assure le leader Mark Holmes.

Groupe pop de Toronto, formé en 1982 par l'auteur-compositeur-interprète et bassiste Mark Holmes avec le guitariste Sergio Galli et le batteur Chris Steffler, ce dernier remplacé en 1987 par Sascha (Tukatsch). Kenny MacLean (guitare, guitare basse, claviers) s'ajouta au groupe en 1985.

Platinum Blonde. A Canadian 1980s New Wave group, the band originally consisted of Mark Holmes (2) on vocals and bass, Sergio Galli on guitar and Chris Steffler on drums. Kenny MacLean later joined the group on bass and keyboards. The band's name was taken from the 1931 film, "Platinum Blonde", starring Jean Harlow.
