  2. The Manchester Grammar School was founded in 1515 to promote ‘godliness and good learning’, and it has endeavoured throughout its history to remain true to these principles, whilst adapting to changing times. It is now an independent boys’ day school with around 1,600 pupils.

  6. Old Mancunians are always welcome back to visit MGS. The Development Office is happy to arrange tours of the school, to provide access to our archives and to help organise reunions.

  7. Manchester Grammar School is an independent boys school whose purpose is to educate boys who qualify by nature of their ability, regardless of family circumstances. Income from the school's foundation bursary fund, held by the MGS Trust, is used on a means tested basis to support boys from lower-income families who would not otherwise be able to accept a place at the school.
