The two shows resulted in a live album, “Eric Clapton’s Rainbow Concert”. By the end of 1973, Eric had kicked heroin for good. Before resuming his career, he took a small part in the Ken Russell film version of The Who’s “Tommy”. For his “comeback” album, Eric put together ERIC CLAPTON AND HIS BAND I.
1 February. Eric launched his 1992 Tour with a concert at the Brighton Centre in East Sussex, England. The tour would include 12 nights at the Royal Albert Hall along with numerous dates in the US and Europe. He also teamed up with Elton John for a series of double-bill dates in Paris, Rotterdam, London, Lausanne, Monza, New York and Los Angeles.

Show Notes: The concert was part of “Fanfare For Europe” celebrating Great Britain’s entry into the Common Market. It was organized by Eric Clapton’s friend, Pete Townshend, and Lord Harlech (father of EC’s girlfriend, Alice Ormsby-Gore) to bring Eric back into the public arena as a working musician and give him incentive to quit his drug habit.
