Luca Guadagnino’s “Suspiria” isn’t so much a remake of the 1977 Dario Argento horror classic as it is a seriously insane (and seriously serious) expansion on the original. The two films share a setting, a few character names and a basic premise—that a prestigious German dance academy is a front for a witches’ coven, because of course it is—and that’s about it.
26 oct. 2018 · As the first hour of Suspiria grinds into the second and beyond (the movie runs 152 minutes), it grows ever more distended and yet more hollow. Unlike Argento, who seemed content to deliver a nastily updated fairy tale in 90 or so minutes, Guadagnino continues casting about for meaning, which perhaps explains why he keeps adding more stuff, more mayhem, more dances.
Suspiria peut aussi être qualifié de film gore, ce qui n'est pas un déshonneur, loin de là. Certes, aujourd'hui, le gore est, soit adopté par le cinéma traditionnel (il y a du gore dans tous les films hollywoodiens ou presque), soit synonyme du gore des années 85/93 (le gore rigolo, avec les sommets que sont Bad Taste et Brain Dead).
