30 mars 2017 · I'm going to be Captain Obvious here: Amigo is Spanish for Friend and Friend is English for amigo (or amiga). It's just that. In both languanges these terms could have a deeper meaning, like when you use "friend" to refer to someone who is "more than just a friend".

28 juin 2016 · Cuate indeed comes from Nahuatl and was used in that language to mean "twin" or "snake." However, since a word already existed for "twin" in Spanish the word "cuate" is now used to refer to a close friend and is similar to the use of the word "bro" or "brother" in English for describing a close friend rather than a person related to one by blood as a brother.
9 mars 2020 · ¿Tienes algún amigo que hable español? and I was thinking about algún: I know that algún/alguno/a/os/as is defined as "one, a, an, any", but why would the following not work with an indefinite article: ¿Tienes un amigo que hable español?
16 févr. 2020 · Gustar in a non romantic context can be used also when it would not be absurd to like him romantically, it depends on the full context. E.g. 'Tu amigo no me gusta ni un pelo'. If a straight woman says that to another person, a woman that is single.. it would not be absurd to like the guy a tiny bit, but this is not the case usually.
