9 févr. 2023 · The Falmouth Bike Path, officially known as the Shining Sea Bikeway, is a paved bike path that stretches out 10.7 miles from North Falmouth to Woods Hole.
The 10.7-mile Shining Sea Bikeway—the only bikeway on Cape Cod to feature a seaside section—boasts beautiful vistas of marshes, rivers, and the sea. It’s no wonder that the bikeway was named after the lyrics to “America the Beautiful,” written by Falmouth native Katharine Lee Bates.
The Shining Sea Bikeway is a 10.7 mile (17.2 km) journey of discovery through four of Falmouth's villages, gently traversing glacier-sculpted natural wonders from Woods Hole on Vineyard Sound to North Falmouth along the shore of Buzzards Bay.
The mostly flat Shining Sea Bikeway runs along the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole and even farther to North Falmouth. It follows an old train track called the Old Colony rail line that connected Buzzards Bay, North Falmouth, West Falmouth, and Woods Hole. The path passes through Sippewissett Marsh, with cranberry bogs and Chapaquoit Beach.
The Shining Sea Bikeway is a 10.7 mile paved path between Woods Hole and North Falmouth, The trail passes by glacial ponds, farms, cranberry bogs, and wooded reservations. The most spectacular section is the two miles along the water at the Woods Hole end of the trail.
