Viet Thanh Nguyen (Vietnamese: Nguyễn Thanh Việt; born March 13, 1971) is a Vietnamese-American professor and novelist. He is the Aerol Arnold Chair of English and Professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California.

Viet Thanh Nguyen est un écrivain américain, nouvelliste, romancier, auteur de non-fiction et universitaire. Après la chute de Saïgon en avril 1975, sa famille émigre aux États-Unis. Il fait ses études à Université de Californie à Berkeley où il obtient son B.A. en 1992 et son doctorat en 1997.

The Sympathizer is the 2015 debut novel by Vietnamese-American professor and writer Viet Thanh Nguyen. It is a best-selling novel, and recipient of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The novel received generally positive acclaim from critics. It was named on more than 30 best book of the year lists and a New York Times Editor's Choice.
