Mark Odom Hatfield (July 12, 1922 – August 7, 2011) was an American politician and educator from the state of Oregon. A Republican, he served eight years as Governor of Oregon, followed by 30 years as one of its United States senators, including time as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

28 août 2021 · As you may know from reading The Oregonian review, Mark Hatfield’s papers are sealed at Willamette University until his 100th birthday in July of 2022. Back in 2017, Claire Withycombe wrote a fantastic piece about the Hatfield Papers, and her article is well worth a read.
8 août 2011 · Hatfield was a Republican who opposed war, nuclear weapons and the death penalty, and championed the environment, human rights and the needy. He served five terms in the Senate from 1967 to 1997 and was known for his independence, integrity and moral compass.
