Samuel Dale Brownback (born September 12, 1956) is an American attorney, politician, and diplomat who served as a United States senator from Kansas from 1996 to 2011 and as the 46th governor of Kansas from 2011 to 2018.

Sam Brownback (born September 12, 1956, Garnett, Kansas, U.S.) is an American Republican politician, who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1995–96) and of the U.S. Senate (1996–2011) before becoming governor of Kansas (2011–18).
Sam Brownback is a former U.S. Senator, Governor of Kansas, and White House Fellow. He was appointed as Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom in 2018 and advocates for religious freedom worldwide.
