Stian Tomt Thoresen (born 18 November 1976), known professionally as Shagrath, is a Norwegian musician. He is the vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and a founding member of the symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir.
Shagrath est le nom de scène de Stian Tomt Thoresen, musicien et chanteur norvégien. Il est le cofondateur en 1993, du groupe Dimmu Borgir avec Tjodalv et Silenoz. Tous trois étaient dans le même lycée et se passionnaient pour le même style de musique, le Black metal norvégien 2 .

The name Shagrath is taken from an orc (actually named Shagrat) in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", in which he commands over the tower of Cirith Ungol. In 2004, Thoresen told NRK1 that "Shagrat is an orc demon (sic.) from the book "Lord of the Rings".
