Set during the Depression, a young boy named Jesse (Roger Daniel) runs away from home so that he can try and earn money for his struggling mother. He winds up with a gang of boys led by Tim (James McCallion) who are quick to beat him up, take what money he does have and force him to join their crooked ways.
When they commit a petty offense, the judge turns the boys over to businessman Albee, who promises to provide them with employment in a turpentine camp. Upon their arrival at the camp, the boys are locked away behind barbed wire and are made virtual prisoners.
