Teruyoshi "Shokei" Nakano (中野 昭慶, Nakano Teruyoshi, October 9, 1935 – June 27, 2022) was a Japanese special effects director.
Teruyoshi Nakano was born on 9 October 1935 in Dandong, Liaoning, China. He was an assistant director, known for Godzilla 1985 (1985), Princess from the Moon (1987) and Shuto shôshitsu (1987). He died on 27 June 2022 in Japan.
In the mid-1970's, Nakano found himself at the head of a beleaguered special effects department at Toho, stuck with smaller budgets and dwindling box office receipts on many productions. Nakano is remembered for frequent use of vibrant and [very] large explosions during his set pieces, especially in Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster (1974) and Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975). In 1985 he directed the special effects for the North Korean-produced monster film Pulgasari.
