Gennadi Mikhailovich Karponosov (Russian: Геннадий Михайлович Карпоносов ⓘ; born 21 November 1950) is an ice dancing coach and a former competitive ice dancer for the Soviet Union. With Natalia Linichuk, he is the 1980 Olympic champion and a two-time World champion.
Biography. Gennady Karponosov’s first partner was Yelena Zharkova and they won three bronzes (1969-1971) and a silver (1972) together at the Soviet Championships. In 1972 Karponosov began skating with Nataliya Linichuk and they won their first competition together – the 1972 Winter Universiade.
