Elmer MacIntosh MacKay PC KC (born August 5, 1936) is a former Canadian politician. Life and career. MacKay was born in Hopewell, Nova Scotia, the son of Laura Louise (Macintosh) and Gordon Barclay MacKay.
MacKay est réélu dans Central Nova en 1984 et est solliciteur général de 1984 à 1985, ministre du Revenu national de 1985 à 1988, puis ministre des Travaux publics et responsable de l'Agence de promotion économique du Canada atlantique de 1989 à 1991. Il est ensuite nommé ministre responsable de la Société canadienne d'hypothèques et de logement.
13 févr. 2008 · Elected a Conservative MP for Central Nova in a 1971 by-election, he was a tenacious and vocal Commons critic of Liberal governments, taking particular aim at security questions. He was minister of regional economic expansion and the political minister for NS in the 1979-80 Joe CLARK government.
1 mars 2024 · Former prime minister Brian Mulroney was elected as MP for Central Nova in 1983, replacing Elmer MacKay. He had a lifelong connection to St. FX University, where he raised millions for the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government.
