21 sept. 2017 · Recorded live at public radio station WDNA 88.9 FM studios in front of a justifiably wildly enthusiastic audience, Jazz Flute Traditions offers both a genuine masterclass in this all-too rarely heard instrument and a whistle-stop tour recalling some of its greatest exponents.
With eleven songs breathtakingly explored melodically, harmonically and rhythmically, Mr Torres pays homage to the grand masters of the instrument: Frank Wess, Herbie Mann, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Yusef Lateef, Eric Dolphy, Hubert Laws and the forgotten Canadian genius, Moe Koffman, among others.
