It was founded in 1925 by Bishop Francis William Howard, Fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Covington, with the assistance of Reverend Brother George Sauer, S.M. from the Provincial Motherhouse of the Society of Mary in Dayton, Ohio.

32-acre campus in Park Hills (2 miles from Brent Spence Bridge) includes the academic center, the gymnasium, the Knochelman Building, the Schott Sports Center, the Yung Family Tennis Complex, Tom Berger Field, Wooten Field at Dennis Griffin Stadium, the Dr. Anthony R. Zembrodt STEM and Fine Arts Center, and the Drees Student and Alumni Center.
