Sideman Serenade is an album by the American musician David Bromberg, released in 1989. It was his first studio album in almost 10 years; he would not release another studio album until 2007. Bromberg had spent much of the 1980s working as a violin maker, after legal difficulties with his previous label, Fantasy Records.
Sideman Serenade. Bromberg’s debut for Rounder included versions of traditional blues, country, folk and soul/R&B tunes. He sang them earnestly and backed himself tastefully while working with both large groups and small combos.

David Bromberg. David Bromberg’s 1989 Rounder album Sideman Serenade is divided into sides: a “City” side (with blues, R&B, and even a dash of cosmopolitan samba) and a “Country” side (featuring folk and country). The sound is full and focused, and the playing is wonderfully lenient.
