Dances Sacred and Profane. Originally released on the infamous GORGON Video label in 1987, this film by Mark Jury features the work of photographer Charles Gatewood in documenting some of the seminal figures and influences in modern body modification culture.
15 févr. 2011 · The next year Fakir and I worked together on a feature film by Mark and Dan Jury titled Dances Sacred and Profane, in which Fakir not only explains but demonstrates his philosophy and practices. The climax of the film shows Fakir doing the Native American Sun Dance ritual.
In the 1985 documentary Dances Sacred and Profane, he was shown walking while wearing a device that pressed many small skewers into his upper body, and hanging from a tree by hooks in his chest, in his modified versions of other cultures' sacred ceremonies.
Though the intractable Pleyel harp soon vanished, Debussy's resulting Danse sacrée et Danse profane of 1904 remains eternal, one of the finest chamber works featuring the harp so beautifully suited to Debussy's ineffable style. Though the piece comprises two dances, they are connected without pause into a seamless whole.
