The song was "Dinner with Gershwin", and Richard Perry was hired to produce it with track writer Brenda Russell. Faltermeyer was surprised that nobody on the Geffen team saw the potential for "Fascination", "Voices Cryin' Out" or "Thinkin' Bout My Baby" as singles.

All Systems Go is the thirteenth studio album by Donna Summer. It was released on September 15, 1987; it would be her final release on Geffen Records, which had been Summer’s label since 1980. There were two single released in the US, “Dinner with Gershwin” and “Only the Fool Survives”.
12 sept. 2022 · In the years since its release, All Systems Go has largely been remembered for one of its singles, the Brenda Russell penned, Richard Perry produced “Dinner with Gershwin.” A “new old fashioned” pop gem that was lyrically astute, musically adventurous, it has become one of the singer’s most beloved moments.
Written by Brenda Russell, it was an unusual song, but it returned Summer to the UK Top 20 where it peaked at #13. Easily the best track on the whole album is "Voices Cryin' Out" on which Summer's voice soars marvellously on a strong melody evoking Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time".
