20 déc. 2018 · Réalisé en 1967 par Louis Malle, Le Voleur est la libre adaptation du livre de Georges Darien, écrivain anarchiste dont l’œuvre se place sous le signe de la révolte et de l’écœurement. Le film dresse le portrait d’un homme qui, au début des années 1890, est devenu voleur par désillusion, dégoûté par l’hypocrisie de la société bourgeoise dont il est issu.
"Of the French New Wave directors who achieved lasting success, Louis Malle and Eric Rohmer perhaps stand furthest apart. Rohmer discovered early what he could do and has carried on doing it. Malle, however, seemed determined never to repeat himself and explored different genres, styles, and countries.
LOUIS MALLE. During his career Louis Malle (30 October 1932 – 23 November 1995) became one of France’s most renowned directors both at home and internationally. He was known for the variety and breadth of his work as a feature-film-maker and a documentarist, as well as its frequently controversial subject matter.
Louis Malle at 44 still looks youthful enough to be an older brother of the adolescent hero of "Murmur of the Heart." Yet he was one of the first directors of the French New Wave, that sudden explosion of spontaneity and experimentation in the late 1950s.
