Curated by HB’s Executive & Artistic Director, HB Studio produces staged readings throughout the year of new and classic plays. Plays are directed and performed by artists working, studying and teaching at the Studio and by HB’s vast alumni network. Readings take place in the HB Playwrights Theatre, and are always free and open to the public.

4 août 2023 · HB Studio has been a home for actors, playwrights and directors since it was founded in 1945 by Herbert Berghof. Herbert was a protégé of German director Max Reinhardt. When things got dangerous in Austria during Hitler’s regime, he came to New York City as a refugee.

Class titles below indicate which are running online vs. in person. IN-PERSON CLASSES meet for the full 10-week term (some exceptions apply) ONLINE CLASSES are offered in 5-week Parts.
