Debbie Harry is an American singer and actress who first came to prominence as the lead vocalist of the rock band Blondie in the late 1970s. She subsequently began appearing in art films for Amos Poe , like The Foreigner , before having her first leading role in the neo-noir film Union City (1980).
American singer Deborah Harry has released five studio albums, five compilation albums and 24 singles. Until 1988, Harry used her nickname "Debbie" on all releases but she is now known professionally as Deborah Harry.
During autumn 2022, Titan Books will publish GIGER: Debbie Harry Species, an art book curated by Chris Stein — photographer, songwriter/guitarist and co-founding member of Blondie — which chronicles the extraordinary collaboration between Stein, Debbie Harry and H.R. Giger for Harry’s 1981 solo album KooKoo.
Blondie took a break for most of 1981. Debbie Harry hosted Saturday Night Live in February 1981, with Stein and Burke backing her during her musical performances. Harry and Destri both released solo albums. Stein worked on Harry's album KooKoo (UK number six, US number twenty-eight) produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.
