I mostly use the Sy-1 for bass sounds in my loops as well. I occasionally use the pad function or lead with the hold which can be awesome. I was look at replacing the sy1 with the OC5 for the bass function, plus I like octave sounds of course for fattening things up. Do you think the OC5 does the bass sounds sufficient for looping fun vs the sy1.
