8 févr. 2024 · This has led to it becoming a thoughtless greeting, often receiving an equally thoughtless reply of "I'm fine, and you?". There are a variety of reasons why this response is given - sometimes it's because the person feels that the questioner isn't genuinely interested in their well-being, and other times it's simply because they don't feel like divulging their true emotions to just anyone.

If someone responds with "I'm fine" after a bout of illness, they're signaling their return to good health. On the other hand, Ok would convey that the person is no longer feeling ill but might not be at their best.
