  6. Since 1981, Sylvia Young OBE, founding principal and true trailblazer. An East End girl, she trained part-time as an actress at Mountview but realised that a performing career wasn’t for her. She was married and working as a part-time librarian when her daughters’ primary school asked her to teach some holiday drama classes, and a star was born.

  7. The Sylvia Young Theatre School is non-denominational and co-educational. Our students range from 10 to 16 years of age. We are a small school of around 250 students and value our ‘family atmosphere'. Students join our full time school after successfully completing the audition process. We hold auditions throughout the school year.
