Admission to veterinary schools is extremely competitive due to the low number of veterinary programs and high number of applicants. There are a few out-of-state schools that accept West Virginia residents with in-state tuition and fees. Requirements are very similar to those for medical school. Background checks are often conducted.

Initiatives. High School Pipelines. The Center for Rural Health has carried out its award-winning high school pipeline since 2004. We work with rural, minority and underserved students to raise awareness of health care careers, remove barriers to pursuing these careers and help prepare students for the rigors of medical education.
David Steely is beginning year 31 in education and year 28 at Marshall County High School. He is a proud MCHS alumni, graduating in 1989, and then went on to receive his B.S. and Masters degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He will also be serving as the head coach of the MCHS basketball Tigerettes for the 17th year.
The Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School’s Professional Pilot, B.S., degree program will help meet the nation’s projected significant need for commercial pilots over the next 20 years. Marshall’s ground and flight courses lead to a series of FAA certifications and prepare graduates to become commercial pilots of single and multi-engine aircraft.
