Robert Wyatt had been an integral member of the Soft Machine, Canterbury, England’s greatest art-rock band. Where other art-rockers looked to wild theatrics and grandiose concepts, the Soft Machine plunged ahead into their uncompromising music.

Étrangement, on ne retrouve pas Daevid Allen.

Robert Wyatt biography Robert Wyatt Ellidge - Born January 28, 1945 (Bristol, England) WYATT must hold a special place in many proghead's hearts as he was at the forefront of the progressive movement from 66 until his grave fall from a fourth story window which has kept him in a wheelchair. Even since then, Robert has been a real prog talent.

Born: Robert Wyatt, January 28, 1945 in Bristol, England to Honor Wyatt a teacher and BBC journalist, and George Ellidge, an industrial psychologist married at that time to another woman. Robert Wyatt became Robert Ellidge [or Robert Wyatt Ellidge] when his father and mother could finally marry in 1951.
