Annibale Carracci (n. 3 noiembrie 1560 , Bononia , Statele Papale – d. 15 iulie 1609 , Roma , Statele Papale ) a fost un pictor italian care și-a desfășurat activitatea în Bologna și mai târziu la Roma . Annibale Carracci was an Italian painter and instructor, active in Bologna and later in Rome. Along with his brother and cousin, Annibale was one of the progenitors, if not founders of a leading strand of the Baroque style, borrowing from styles from both north and south of their native city, and aspiring for a return to classical monumentality, but adding a more vital dynamism.

Il faut noter qu'une pietà d'Annibale Carracci est mentionnée résider dans le palais de Caprarola par un voyageur du XVII e siècle. Il n'est cependant pas encore sûr qu'il s'agisse du présent tableau actuellement conservé à Capodimonte ou d'une autre pietà non encore identifiée ou peut-être perdue [ 2 ] .
