Viva Las Vegas is a 1964 American rock and roll musical film directed by George Sidney, written by Sally Benson, choreographed by David Winters, and starring Elvis Presley, Ann-Margret, Cesare Danova, William Demarest and Nicky Blair.
Outside of Elvis Presley’s family, Ann-Margret was the most important woman in the entertainer’s life. Playing opposite Elvis in 1963’s Viva Las Vegas, she became the most memorable of Presley’s leading ladies during his Hollywood career.

Released in 1964, Viva Las Vegas was built to follow the same formula for success. Yet the results were iconically different: It not only became the highest grossing film to feature Elvis, it propelled the career of costar Ann-Margret and widened the appeal of Sin City itself.
Ann-Margret was Elvis' leading lady, playing Rusty Martin to his Lucky Jackson in the movie. They had a brief romance and then remained friends throughout Elvis' life. The Swedish born singer/actress was raised in Illinois and was discovered by George Burns.
