5 juin 2020 · As we’ve stated before, Lydia Gilbert was convicted of witchcraft in 1654 and probably hanged. It started with the manslaughter of Henry Stiles by Thomas Allyn in 1651 while both men were on the Windsor town green in a drill for the town’s militia.

On November 28, 1654, Lydia Gilbert landlord, is charged with causing the death of Henry Stiles by Witchcraft. She is tried at the General Court in Hartford and found guilty and sentenced to death.
