Scott McCloud est auteur de bande dessinée américain, un théoricien et un essayiste. Son père était, selon sa biographie officielle, un aveugle inventeur de fusées. Alors qu'il a 16 ans son ami Kurt Busiek le convainc que les comics ne sont pas tous à jeter et il décide d'en faire son métier.
Né le 10 juin 1960 à Boston, c’est à quinze ans que Scott McCloud décide de devenir auteur de bandes dessinées. En 1884, il publie la série Zot!, aujourd’hui devenue un classique.
