Jerry Lynn Ross, né le 20 janvier 1948 à Crown Point dans l'Indiana, est un ingénieur, militaire et astronaute américain. Après des études en ingénierie mécanique il s'engage dans l'US Air Force où il conduit des recherches en tant qu'ingénieur sur les statoréacteurs.
Jerry Lynn Ross (born January 20, 1948, Crown Point, Indiana) is a retired United States Air Force officer, engineer, and a former NASA astronaut. Ross is a veteran of 7 Space Shuttle missions, making him the joint record holder for most spaceflights (a record he shares with Franklin Chang-Díaz).
En Février 1979, Ross a été affecté à la Division des opérations de charges utiles au « Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center » comme contrôleur de vol et responsable des opérations de vol pour l’intégration des charges utiles dans la navette spatiale. Ross a été sélectionné comme astronaute en mai 1980.

26 juil. 2023 · A veteran of seven space flights, Ross has more than 1,393 hours in space, including 58 hours and 18 minutes of EVA on nine spacewalks. He was the first human to be launched into space seven times. These seven flights comprise a world record that Ross now shares with one other NASA astronaut.
In his early days with the Air Force, Jerry Lynn Ross was selected for the Air Force Test Pilot School. While he loved working with B-1 bombers, he decided to give it up for a chance to soar to even greater heights as part of the NASA shuttle program.
