John Richard Whiteley OBE DL (28 December 1943 – 26 June 2005) was an English presenter and journalist, best known for his twenty-three years as host of the game show Countdown.

British-born, Australian-American artist Richard Whiteley works with light and form, casting glass sculptures, that use the translucence and color of glass to articulate and order voids, which he surrounds by solid mass.
Whiteley is the Senior Programs Manager for The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass and part of the team leading The Studio’s major program and facility expansion. He came to Corning in 2019 after heading the prestigious Glass Workshop at the School of Art, Australian National University in Canberra for over 15 years.
