Tony Zale, né le 29 mai 1913 à Gary et mort le 20 mars 1997 à Portage, est un boxeur américain d'origine polonaise. Champion du monde des poids moyens à plusieurs reprises, celui qui est surnommé Man of Steel principalement connu pour sa trilogie de combats contre Rocky Graziano au milieu des années 1940.
Bouts against Rocky Graziano, 1946–48. Zale was a two-time world middleweight champion and made The Ring ' s list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. Zale is best remembered for his three bouts over a 21-month period with Rocky Graziano for the middleweight crown.
Abrams was the outstanding challenger courtesy of three wins over former NY champ Billy Soose. Zale was knocked down in the 1st round for a "9" count. Judge George LeCron scored it 8-7 on rounds for Zale, and so far the other two votes have not been located.
26 mai 2021 · Represented Chicago at the Intercity Golden Gloves at light heavyweight in 1934. He lost to Melio Bettina, the future World Light Heavyweight Champion. Named The Ring Fighter of the Year in 1946. Boxing historian Herbert Goldman ranked Zale as the 10th greatest middleweight of all-time.
