Joe King Carrasco, who is known as the king of Tex-Mex rock 'n' roll, mixes Nuevo Wavo rock and Latin rhythms. Carrasco was born on December 6, 1953, in Moore County, Texas, the son of Tucker and Virginia Stovall Teutsch.

With the album named for the Cuban slang word for “chillin out”, many of the songs were written while he was sitting at military check points in the Mexican desert, during his trips from Jalisco to Laredo.
