Né en 1970 à Londres, Talvin Singh est l'un des principaux représentants de l' Asian Underground, raccourci commode pour définir ce courant musical mélangeant musique occidentale (électro, punk, folk...) et musiques traditionnelles du sous-continent indien.
After collaborating with Siouxsie and the Banshees and Björk in the early 1990s, Singh released his debut album Ok (1998), which received the Mercury Music Prize in 1999. Singh has since collaborated with a variety of acts including Madonna and Massive Attack.
OK is the debut studio album by English / Indian tabla player and record producer Talvin Singh, released on Island Records in 1998. It won him the Mercury Prize for 1999. The record was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. It took nine months of travelling around and recording to complete the album.

Talvin Singh est un musicien, DJ, joueur de tabla et chanteur, indo-anglais né à Londres en 1970. En 1991, il est recruté par le groupe Siouxsie and the Banshees pour jouer des tablas et chanter sur leur single Kiss Them for Me. À 20 ans à peine, il tourne avec le groupe jusqu’au début de l’année 1992.
