5 avr. 2024 · Mario Ceroli (Castel Frentano, 1938) est un sculpteur et scénographe connu pour avoir “aboli” la figure ronde en sculpture, ce qui fait de lui un innovateur de cette technique, et s’est rendu célèbre pour avoir introduit une figure récurrente, la silhouette.
18 oct. 2010 · Ceroli fait partie des fondateurs de l’Arte Povera, un mouvement conceptuel baptisé ainsi à Gênes en 1967. Il s’opposait au Pop Art par le refus des moyens artistiques traditionnels, comme la peinture, et l’introduction de matériaux « pauvres », le bois, la terre ou les déchets industriels.
Mario Ceroli (born 1938) is an Italian sculptor. Biography. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi. One of his sculptures is on the Luigi Einaudi campus of the University of Turin, and another one is at the Vatican Museums.

Born in 1938 in Castel Frentano (Chieti), Mario Ceroli studied at the Art Institute in Rome, with teachers such as Fazzini, Leoncillo and Colla, and devoted himself primarily to ceramics. Ceroli had a fortunate and happy debut, winning the Young Sculpture Award at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome in 1958.
