Thelma Somerville Cudlipp (14 October 1891 – 2 April 1983) was an American artist and book illustrator. Early life. Thelma was born in Richmond, Virginia on 14 October 1891. She was the daughter of Frederick Dallas Cudlipp and Annie ( née Ericsson) Cudlipp. Her mother died in Bermuda on 24 June 1915. [1]

American artist and book illustrator Thelma Cudlipp was born in Richmond, Virginia, to Frederick (who died in Virginia in 1903) and Annie Ericsson Cudlipp (who died in Bermuda on June 24, 1915). Thelma moved to New York City as a teen to study art.
30 oct. 2017 · All her life, Thelma Cudlipp Grosvenor was trying to reconcile her inner Southern belle with her outer feminism. In an early interview with journalist and suffragist Nixola Greeley-Smith, Thelma complained about the forwardness of New York women compared to their southern counterparts.
Women called to service. Although women did not fight in combat during World War I, posters actively recruited them to serve as nurses, switchboard operators, and ambulance drivers in France.
