Nancy Graves (December 23, 1939 – October 21, 1995) was an American sculptor, painter, printmaker, and sometime filmmaker known for her focus on natural phenomena like camels or maps of the Moon.

La construction tant de l’intérieur que de l’extérieur des chameaux fut pour elle un véritable défi. Durant toute sa carrière, Graves pratique tour à tour la peinture et la sculpture.

Although it is possible to imagine the Moon’s peaks, impact craters and “seas,” the artist’s reinterpretation has resulted in works that are at once delicate and powerful.
Nancy Graves was a sculptor, painter, printmaker and filmmaker who is perhaps best known for her highly realist camels and the unusual choice of materials for her sculptures. With the camels, she was challenged by the construction of both the inside and the outside of these objects.
