Cardinal Newman Catholic Elementary School was renamed St. John Henry Newman Catholic Elementary School in June 2020, after its namesake was granted sainthood by Pope Francis.
He became a Benedictine monk and, feeling called to preach the Gospel in foreign lands, approached Pope Gregory II who renamed him Boniface (meaning doer of good deeds)and sent him to Germany to preach the Gospel. St. Boniface spent almost 35 years travelling Germany, sharing the good news and building schools, convents and monasteries.
